Nature and territory

The Porrettana Railway crosses a unique and extraordinary territory, shaped by hundreds of years of interaction between man and natural elements, where nature, history, culture and landscape merge and form an environment rich in historical and architectural resources, cultural and naturalistic. Ancient ironworks, iceboxes, numerous religious buildings, ruins of ancient castles and the remains of the fortifications of the Gothic Line, connected by an important museum system and by a wide path network parallel to the railway which is well suited to the practice of "train / trekking" and is characterized by numerous points of interest, by wonderful landscape views and by the rich variety of animals and plants that can be encountered.
